Statement on Voter Purges

Statement on Voter Purges

We call on all citizens of Fulton County and our elected officials to contact Brad Raffensberger and the Secretary of State’s Office as soon as possible at 404-656-2817 or soscontact@sos.ga.gov

Their office is open 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday – Friday.

Let him know that:
Purging registered voters from the rolls disproportionately disenfranchises marginalized citizens, particularly low-income, elderly, and minority voters, who are more likely to be affected by such practices.

These individuals often face significant barriers to re-registering, whether due to a lack of access to transportation, limited knowledge of bureaucratic processes, or the challenge of providing required documentation.

By removing eligible voters from the rolls based on outdated or inaccurate information, these purges undermine the democratic process, effectively silencing the voices of those who may be less politically connected or have less access to the resources needed to maintain their voter registration.

Voting purges deepens the sense of political alienation among vulnerable populations, perpetuating inequality within the electoral system. The claim that voter purging prevents voter fraud is largely unfounded, as instances of in-person voter fraud are exceedingly rare.

Research consistently shows that voter fraud is not a significant problem, and there is little evidence to suggest that purging voters has any meaningful impact on reducing fraud.

Voter purges often target individuals least likely to engage in fraudulent behavior while doing little to address the root causes of election irregularities.

Purging voters is often supported by an extremist MAGA agenda, and is more about suppressing votes from groups that tend to vote Democratic rather than safeguarding election integrity.

Such tactics undermine public confidence in the fairness of elections and erode the foundation of democratic participation.
