The Fulton County Democratic Party Committee stands in solidarity with the Fulton County Board of Commissioners in their efforts to maintain legislative discretion over appointments to the Fulton County Registration and Elections Board.
Rather than putting forward qualified individuals committed to fairness and accountability, the Fulton County Republican Party continues to promote candidates who have actively undermined trust in our elections. When the Fulton County Board of Commission voted to not appoint these nominees, the Fulton County Republican Party filed a lawsuit and contempt order to force the hand of the Fulton County Board of Commission.
As it stands, the two Republican appointees, Ms. Julie Adams and Mr. Jason Frazier, have filed frivolous legal challenges against Fulton County, costing taxpayers money to defend these actions; served as mouthpieces for former President Trump and the MAGA coalition’s unfounded “Stop the Steal” movement; refused to certify lawful election results in Georgia, going against the will of the Secretary of State; openly supported restrictions on mail-in voting access; and targeted Georgia voters’ fundamental rights through efforts to purge the state’s voter rolls.
These actions are directly at odds with democratic principles, the electoral process, and the interests of our community, including service members at home and abroad. The above points alone should disqualify them from serving in any leadership role within Fulton County. By advancing these nominees, the Republican Party has chosen partisan loyalty and political gamesmanship over the public good.
Fulton County deserves election board members who will protect ballot access, promote accessibility, and uphold integrity, not individuals who spread conspiracy theories and erode public confidence in our democracy.
Our commitment to voting rights and access will not waver. Our commitment to democracy and the electoral process will endure. We will not stand by while the independence of our County Commissioners is threatened or undermined. The Fulton County Democratic Party Committee will continue to use our platform to uplift accountability, transparency, and accessibility—and to ensure that the voices of the people of Fulton County remain at the center of our elections.
